In our campus, we also celebrate this festival every year. We have made all preparations early in the morning. In the morning NCC cadets of our campus marched out in a procession through the main building of campus.
The Wg. Cdr. (Rtd.) PVC Patilwas the Chief Guest of the Programme. He hoisted the national flag on the main lawn stage of campus sharp at 8:00 am. All the students and teachers saluted the flag and then sang the National Anthem with nobody moved honoring it. Then followed the Cultural Programme, students of our campus performed the group dance and patriotic poems and Songs- the most heart touching song ‘ye mere watan ke logo…’ were recited both by the teachers and the students.
The chief guest delivered the short speech. He told the students about the supreme sacrifice of the great martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of freedom. He also reiterated that the freedom is very precious and it is very necessary to preserve it.
At the end, the our campus director Col. S. K. Joshi sir gave a speech reminding the sacrifices of freedom fighters and made us take pledge that we would serve our motherland-India with heart, and save water and trees. Also Director sir declared that, every employee of Dr. D.Y. Patil Educational complex, Akurdi; will donate their one day salary as helping hand to the flood victims of Kolhapur and Sangali region.
